Bunyan Systems and Consulting

I'm Neil Bunyan, and I run Bunyan Systems and Consulting from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. My work sits at the intersection of two fields that don't usually overlap: rigorous quality control and welding inspection, and practical, modern technology services.

My background is in quality control. I got my start in 2013 as a QC inspector on a major structural project in Kitimat, BC, and by 2015 had moved into heavy industrial oil and gas work, spending the better part of five years on maintenance shutdowns and outages. Wanting to build a different kind of skill set, I took a step back in 2020 to complete a two year IT Generalist program at NSCC, which led to a stint as an IT Project Coordinator and, later, a coordinator and management role back in construction.

Bunyan Systems and Consulting grew out of that mix. It's where the inspection work and the technology work meet: quality control and inspection jobs on one side, and on the other, IT consulting aimed at helping locals and small businesses get past the tech barriers holding them back. I'm also building out structured software and technology courses to bring to the area.
